DIGITAL STORIES
NARRATIVES AND AESTHETICS IN POST-NETWORK MEDIA
Post-Graduate Symposium, 21st June 2018, Department of Theatre, Film and Television, TFTV, University of York
Welcome to “Digital Stories: Narratives and Aesthetics in Post-network Media”, the 2018 version of the Post-Graduate Symposium in Department of Theatre, Film and Television, TFTV, University of York.
This year’s symposium aims to generate an inclusive dialogue around the influence of digital technologies in the aesthetics and narrativity of film, theatre, television and other traditional media. We’re welcoming researchers and practitioners of every field of knowledge who is interested in the changes driven by digitality and the ways we, as a society, tell stories.
“WE LIMP THROUGH THE DIGITAL MEDIUM, WHICH, BENEATH THE CONSCIOUS DECISION, DECISIVELY CHANGES OUR BEHAVIOUR, OUR PERCEPTION, OUR THOUGHT, OUR COEXISTENCE. TODAY WE’RE DRUNK WITH DIGITAL MEDIA, WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO TOTALLY VALUE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS DRUNKENNESS. THIS BLINDNESS AND SIMULTANEOUS OBNUBILATION CONSTITUTE THE CURRENT CRISIS.”
